Holiday apartment in Novaglie: Park, forest paths and history
Discover Novaglie: Park and nature
When you choose a holiday apartment in Novaglie, you can begin a day of nature and activity in a specific setting: the public park on Via della Pineta lies on the northern edge of the town centre and has been completely redeveloped. It covers approximately 3,000 square metres. The park includes footpaths, benches, a drinking fountain, litter bins, picnic tables, a small play area and garden areas for children. For families, the play area and garden spaces provide a clear focal point for spending time together outdoors, while the benches and picnic tables offer room for a break.
The park also includes an insect hotel, two nesting boxes and a bird-feeding station donated by WWF Verona. Alongside the paths and landscaped garden areas, these features give the site a strong connection to observing insects and birds.
Forest paths and traces of history
The Dorsale delle Frazioni “Renzo Giuliani” reaches Novaglie via a path that climbs through the forest to the village on the hilltop ridge. A shaded section of this ridge route passes through the forest alongside the grounds of a villa and continues to the Fontana delle Streghe. The municipal bus network serves all the districts crossed by the Giuliani ridge route, as well as numerous starting points and intermediate stops. Hikers can therefore begin, end or interrupt the route at various locations. This network may be relevant when choosing your holiday apartment if you want to plan hiking days flexibly.
The history of the paths is also part of Novaglie’s character. The ancient Via Molinara once connected Novaglie with Montorio. A striking testimony is the Pilotòn, a 3.20-metre-high limestone megalith of phallic form. Its circumference is 2.05 metres at the base and 1.80 metres at the top.
Researchers consider the Pilotòn a sacred megalith. It is said to have been erected in a special place to promote the fertility of the earth and was probably connected with three nearby villages dating from the Middle Bronze Age, around 1500 BC. Novaglie thus also offers an unusual historical point of reference for visitors interested in early settlement traces and traditional interpretations.

The more recent local history also includes the community of the Poor Clares: on 21 November 1966, they moved to San Fidenzio Hill in Novaglie, into a new monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
A dated insight into local traditions
The programme of the 89th Sagra del Brocolo 2025 included a walk in the hills of Novaglie at 3:30 p.m. This specific event element connects local festival culture with the landscape and complements the town’s historical and nature-related points of interest.
