Discover Parlesca – Routes and History
Parlesca between the Tevere, Routes and History
Parlesca combines the ferry history of the Tevere with routes of the Ecomuseo del Tevere and historic sites in the surrounding area. Mountains are also part of the area's references, although they are located at varying distances from the town. Palaces, museums and mountains are not all located at the same distance. The town's history extends from the 13th-century Torre Strozzi to the ferry history of the 20th century.
Routes along the Tevere
On the “Itinerario 6 – Valle del Tevere”, Parlesca is one of the places to visit; Solfagnano-Parlesca is a stop along the route. In Area 2 of the Ecomuseo del Tevere, Parlesca belongs to the same regional area as Solfagnano, Rancolfo, La Bruna, Civitella Benazzone and Morleschio. The “Sentiero dei Barcaioli” is connected with Ramazzano and Parlesca. The route connections from Parlesca and Solfagnano-Parlesca therefore extend to other places in the Tevere area.
Ferry History and Iron Boat
The historic ferry of Parlesca operated until 1962. An iron boat was brought to Parlesca in 1953 and is still there; it is awaiting restoration. This keeps the ferry history tied to a specific object in the town. For those interested in culture, this is where the history of the Tevere meets a visible trace from the 20th century.
Historic Sites and Cultural Attractions
Pantano di Parlesca is one of Perugia's urban settlements of historic and environmental significance. The Torre Strozzi dates from the 13th century and houses an art centre. It is located near Parlesca railway station. A mill is recorded near Parlesca-Solfagnano railway station, at the Fosso della Parlesca. Thus, within the same historic field of interest, a tower, an art centre, a settlement and the connection to the Fosso della Parlesca stand side by side.
Palaces and Museums in the Surrounding Area
The Palazzo Gallenga palace and the Soprintendenza Beni Architett museum are located in the vicinity of Parlesca. The Palazzo Florenzi and the Casa Museo di Palazzo Sorbello museum are also in the surrounding area. For those interested in culture, this means that two palaces and two museums form part of Parlesca's surroundings; they are complemented by the art centre in the Torre Strozzi.
Mountains and Transport
For those interested in mountains, Monte Tezio, Monte Acuto and Monte Urbino are located in the vicinity of Parlesca. Monte Malbe lies in the town's wider regional surroundings. The geographical classification therefore ranges from the three nearby mountains to a broader regional connection.
On 14 June 2026, Solfagnano-Parlesca was one of the stops on a train from Perugia S. Anna to Città di Castello. This train connection is limited to 14 June 2026. The relevant ferry sites around Solfagnano and Parlesca are accessible by car.
