Crosses and views of the Danube

The Vine-growers’ Cross, in turn, is the city’s oldest memorial cross; it was intended to protect the vineyards from storms. The two crosses therefore represent different historical connections: the tanners and the time of its construction are recorded for one, while the other is linked to protecting the vineyards.

From the Tanners’ Cross, you can enjoy a sweeping view of the Danube, Szentendre Island opposite, the houses in the town centre and the Preobrazienska Church at the foot of the hill.
