Nature and Hiking Trails
A hiking route described as starting from Tahitótfalu follows the Ugró Stream to the Leány-kút spring, then crosses the Villám Stream and continues to the Hétvályús-forrás spring. The stream, crossing and springs provide several specific landmarks along the route. Trail conditions can change, so check them before your hike.
A route description also names Vörös-kő as a point reached along the way. According to the description, it offers panoramic views of Szentendre Island and the Danube Valley. Hikers who like to include a scenic destination in their walk will find a different focus here than on the route to the two springs.
Cycling Routes and Destinations
A green-marked cycling route runs from Tahitótfalu through the Kalicsa Valley and reaches Dunabogdány after about 3 km. A route description also mentions a red-marked cycling route that reaches Pap-rét after about 4 km. A hiking trail marked as part of the National Blue Trail runs along this section as well. The destinations and markings provide different points of reference for planning your tours.
A blue-marked cycling route runs south from Tahitótfalu along the main road to the neighbouring municipality of Pócsmegyer, Pázsit-tó and the ferry between Pócsmegyer and Leányfalu. Markings and route conditions can change; if you plan to take the ferry, check that it is currently operating as well.
Churches and Architectural History
The Roman Catholic Church of St Stephen in Tahitótfalu is considered an Empire-style church. Its predecessor was built in 1778; the church has been remodelled several times since then. The Reformed Church offers a different architectural accent: the late Baroque building is surrounded by a stone wall and was built between 1801 and 1805. Its tower was built in 1855. These dates help trace the different construction phases of the two churches.
Pollack Mihály’s Szüreti ház also offers a glimpse of several construction phases. It was built in the early 19th century and extended in the second half of that century. Since the extension, the building has featured eclectic stylistic elements. Those interested in architecture can include the development of another historic building alongside the churches.
The listed historic buildings in Tahitótfalu also include the remains of a castellum (burgus). The town’s architectural history thus encompasses churches, a 19th-century building and the remains of a castellum.
