Culture
In the center of Eszterágpuszta are the Zsolnay Chapel and the bell tower. The listed Roman Catholic Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is clad with horizontal bands of yellow and brown glazed Zsolnay tiles. Built in 1904 at the behest of Canon Walter Antall, the chapel was designed in the Historicist style. The bell tower in Eszterágpuszta has a square ground plan, three floors, and a facade with horizontal bands of yellow and red unglazed bricks.
Németi is also home to a late Baroque building: the Catholic church is a listed monument and was built between 1795 and 1804. Szalánta is also home to a South Slavic folk dance ensemble run by the Marica Cultural Association.
Landscape
The district of Németi is laid out on both sides of a valley running from north to south. The municipality of Szalánta, including Németi, lies in the Baranyai-dombság microregion. The hilly landscape there is characterized by broad, plateau-like ridges and steep-sided, partly heavily eroded valleys.
On the way to the district of Németi, there is a lake in picturesque surroundings that visitors can view.
Geographical Location
Szalánta can be reached by car and bus via road. The town is 15 km from Pécs and 12 km from Harkány; Szalánta is easily and quickly accessible from both places via Road 58.
