Culture

The Church of Saint Nicholas in Kővágótöttös acquired its present form in 1780. Restoration research suggests that the southern masonry may contain a medieval moulded portal and a sanctuary dating from the Árpád era.

Tótvár is a broad, elongated plateau about one kilometre north of the church in Kővágótöttös and is bordered by steep slopes on almost all sides.

On Tótvár at Tótvár-hegy are the ramparts of a prehistoric earthwork; several prehistoric burial mounds have also been observed on the neighbouring Halomi-hegy.

The Tótvár Plateau is predominantly open and covered with tall grass, while dense woodland grows along its edges. Parts of the ramparts, the plateau edge and the slopes are covered with dense, thorny scrub woodland that is difficult or impossible to cross.
