Hammersmith And Fulham combines cultural history, paths along the Thames and a diverse events scene. Historic houses, museums, theatres, cinemas and riverside landscapes each represent their own facets of the area. Fulham is also included in the wider selection of locations.

Culture

Fulham Palace is the historic home of the Bishops of London. The estate includes a botanical garden covering 13 acres, with rare trees and a walled garden. Fulham Palace also offers introductory talks, guided tours and discovery trails.

The William Morris Society Museum is located in the coach house and lower rooms of Kelmscott House, where William Morris lived from 1878 to 1896. There is a free Strawberry Thief activity trail for children. The museum at Kelmscott House is a ten-minute walk from Ravenscourt Park Underground Station.

A special art-historical trace leads to Emery Walker's House at 7 Hammersmith Terrace. Morris & Co. wallpaper is considered to have survived in almost every room in its original form; the house is described as one of the few houses in the world to which this applies. Hammersmith Bridge is a suspension bridge built by Sir Joseph Bazalgette in 1884. As a venue for live entertainment in London, the Eventim Apollo is significant and is considered one of the largest and best-preserved original theatres in the United Kingdom.

Nature

The Hammersmith Riverside Walk runs along Hammersmith Riverside and conveys the history of the Arts and Crafts movement as well as local stories. The Thames Path connects Hammersmith and Fulham and passes town centres, green spaces, sports clubs and riverside businesses. The route is suitable for walking, cycling and running.

In the north of Ravenscourt Park, the wild garden includes a pond, a meadow and a wooded area. Thus, in addition to the riverside paths, the area also offers clearly defined garden and park spaces. The interplay between historic grounds, riverside stretches and planted areas characterises the different landscape aspects without them merging into a single location.

Entertainment

The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre building is fully accessible. The theatre offers workshops related to certain performances in the Main House. At Riverside Studios, two cinemas show a wide variety of films, including several festivals held annually. In addition, Riverside Studios offers a comprehensive programme of family events featuring drama, arts and crafts activities and other workshops.

Craven Cottage is also part of the area's events offering: stadium tours and a matchday experience are available there. The Hammersmith Underground and bus stations near the Eventim Apollo are wheelchair accessible.
