Aviation History at Flugwelt

The Flugwelt Altenburg-Nobitz Museum presents the history of the airfield and aviation through a variety of exhibits. The collection includes, among other things, a MiG-21 SPS and a Breguet BR1150 “Atlantic.” An aircraft formerly used by the naval air arm is also accessible to visitors in the outdoor area. Check current access conditions before your visit.

Five smaller boards focus on a millstone, a bread recipe, two riddles and a specimen tree. The Nature Oasis also includes a walk-in wooden mill with seating for children. The boards and mill offer practical points of interest if you’re curious about local nature and milling.

Cycling and hiking trails also pass through Nobitz. The Pleiße Cycle Path runs through the municipality and intersects the “Altenburg - Colditz” cycle tour in Nobitz. The Sculpture Trail follows the Sprotte through the municipality to the Selleris weir. The Way of St. James passes through Borna and Altenburg, continues through Nobitz and on to Zwickau. Leina Forest and Schömbach Reservoir

The Märchensee lies in Leina Forest. Schömbach Reservoir is located in the vicinity of Nobitz, directly beside Leina Forest; its accessible dam invites you to take a walk.
