Nature

The Kranika Moor Nature Reserve encompasses parts of Lütjensee and Grönwohld and covers approximately 97 hectares. Hahnheide has numerous hiking trails and the Langer Otto observation tower; it is a short drive from Lütjensee. The longest route connected with Lütjensee is 12 kilometres long.

Water

There is a bathing area on the northern shore of Lake Lütjensee that is accessible year-round. Culture and history

Lütjensee was first mentioned in 1248 as Lüttekensee in the founding charter of the Trittau parish. The church built in 1961 is named Tymmo Church and commemorates the historical significance of Tymmo von Hammes for the village. Tymmo Church contains Harald Duwe's sgraffito "The Slaying of Tymmo".

The cultural offerings also include a specialised motor museum. During guided tours, engines are demonstrated in operation and engines from various eras are presented as cultural heritage. Visits are by prior appointment.

Getting around

The BahnRadWeg Route C has an information board at the intersection of Trittauer Strasse and Hamburger Strasse in Lütjensee. The route has no direct rail connection. From Hamburg, travel is by U1 to Großhansdorf, followed by a cycle ride of approximately 4.5 kilometres to Hoisdorf.

The trekking site operated by the Nature Conservation Foundation is listed for registered hikers and cyclists. Tents can be pitched there among old apple trees. Lütjensee high ropes course offers seven courses and 99 obstacles. It is served by HVV bus routes 364 and 369 at the Lütjensee Kreuzung stop; from there, a walk of approximately five minutes leads through the forest. Biohof Heidemann is a farm shop in Lütjensee.
