This area covers 117 hectares and includes the waterways Osterfahrbek and Iselbek, their valley, and Lindhorster Pond. Iselbek and Osterfahrbek are important habitats for brook lamprey and river lamprey.

Things to Do

The Kiel Canal Route is a 325-kilometre long-distance cycle path between Brunsbüttel and Kiel. It follows the Kiel Canal and its scenic surrounding countryside. The Burg–Albersdorf section is approximately 30 kilometres long.

The Klein Westerland bathing area near Hochdonn offers a sandy spot for swimming and relaxation on the Kiel Canal, with views of passing ocean-going vessels and cargo ships.
