Hohenaspe: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The Estate Tour reaches Hohenaspe and recommends a stop at St. Michaelis Church to see its tower. Those wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Hohenaspe can then continue their search for accommodation. The tour returns to Itzehoe along quiet minor roads. A detour leads to the Muldsberg Pit, a former clay mining area with a lake and a circular trail. The route then passes through a forest to Drage, where another estate complex is located.
Culture
Construction of St. Michaelis Church in Hohenaspe began at the end of the 12th century as a fieldstone building. Later work included raising the nave in brick, a rib-vaulted choir from the 14th century with two side chapels, and an open bell tower west of the nave. Inside are a wooden altarpiece from around 1480 with a figurative crucifixion scene, a Renaissance pulpit from around 1560, a bronze baptismal font cast in 1630, and the crypt of Margrave Friedrich Ernst of Kulmbach and his wife. Visitor parking is available at St. Michaelis Church at Kirchenstraße 10.
