At the northern tip of Heligoland stands the sea stack, which has been a landmark of the island since 1865. A seabird colony with around 10,000 pairs every year, including common guillemots and northern gannets, is located nearby.

The maritime area around Heligoland’s inner harbour offers art, culture and culinary specialities such as Knieper, or crab claws. Local cuisine is therefore also one of the defining aspects of a stay, without being separate from the island’s cultural impressions.
