Westerheversand is a four-kilometre-long beach for swimming and walking in the national park, accessible only on foot. The Westerhever Lighthouse National Park Station offers nature-focused excursions on the mudflats and in the salt marshes.

The Stufhusen bathing area in Westerhever has a sandy and grassy beach suitable for swimming and guided mudflat walks. Mudflat walks in Westerhever should never begin with the incoming tide. The best time to start is about two hours before low tide.
Things to Do
Westerhever Lighthouse is located 2.5 kilometres from the outer dike and can only be reached on foot or by bicycle. Westerhever Lighthouse can be explored with an audio guide.
The historic Stockenstieg is a narrow path dating from 1929 between the lighthouse and the dike. Today, it is used in only one direction: from the lighthouse to the dike. It is generally accessible to pedestrians from June to September; from October to May, it is closed when the salt marshes are reserved for resting migratory birds.
Hikers can use two audio guides covering the village and the route to Westerheversand Lighthouse.
Culture
St. Stephanus in Westerhever was founded around 1200. The west tower dates from 1370, while the nave was rebuilt in 1804 as a brick hall church. The tower has served as a navigational landmark for centuries.
Westerhever's architectural heritage includes nine Haubarg farmhouses, traditional agricultural buildings of Eiderstedt associated with the region's prosperity in the 16th and 17th centuries, as well as the Wogemannsburg cultural monument.
At Westerhever Lighthouse, two former lighthouse keepers' houses are used for exhibitions about the lighthouse and the work and life of the former lighthouse keepers.
