The nature experience area presents the sandy salt marshes, beach ridges, dunes, and brackish reed beds of Sankt Peter-Ording at four large platforms and eight smaller stations. The Wadden Sea World Heritage Nature Experience Area is located south of the pier in front of the dike and offers a place to experience and learn about the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site. Three platforms in the nature experience area are directly accessible from the dike and are intended to improve access to the experience and information offerings for people with reduced mobility.

Activities

Along the Erlebnis-Promenade, the nature trail runs between the beach clinic and the Erlebnis-Hus on a wooden boardwalk through the natural surroundings of Sankt Peter-Ording. The wide beach offers conditions for kitesurfing for beginners and professionals.

The Westküstenpark & Robbarium in Sankt Peter-Ording is home to Germany’s largest seal enclosure, which is filled with pure North Sea water. More than 800 animals from around the world also live there.

The Ahoi Restaurant is located in the Erlebnis-Hus. Its cuisine is influenced by Nordic and Asian traditions and focuses on fish. Six stilt-house restaurants offer views of the North Sea and the beach.

Getting There

Sankt Peter-Ording can be reached by train via Husum and the Eiderstedt line. From Tönning, this line continues to the terminus at Sankt Peter-Ording. Services run hourly from May to September and, in some cases, year-round.
