Rodenäs: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Rickelsbüller Koog is located within Rodenäs in the North Frisian Marsh and covers approximately 534 hectares. Those wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Rodenäs can then continue their accommodation search.

Nature

The Rickelsbüller Koog nature reserve is closed to visitors; angling, fishing and water sports are prohibited. The Koog contains protected biotopes such as standing waters, reed beds, lower salt marshes, upper salt marshes and grassland influenced by brackish water.

Large flocks of birds use the interconnected nature reserves in spring and autumn to replenish their reserves before continuing their migration. The Wiedingharde Information Centre offers guided birdwatching tours several times a year. Rodenäs highlights the birdlife and undisturbed observation in the Rickelsbüller Koog as well as cycling tours on both sides of the German-Danish border.

The Bienenhafen project created flower meadows covering 80,000 square metres in Rodenäs. As part of local insect protection measures, there are established flower meadows, insect hotels and information boards.

Geographical Location

The border dike separates the German Rickelsbüller Koog from the Danish Margrethe Kog. Below the border dike is an observation hut with views across grassland and Koog waters. The border dike and the outer dike offer good opportunities for birdwatching; there are also information boards at the border dike.

Culture

The “Rodenäs Church” ensemble, listed as cultural heritage, is located in Oldorf and comprises the church and its furnishings, the churchyard and the bell house. St. Dionysius Church forms the centre of Rodenäs.

Large terp settlements can still be recognised in Krummhusum, Tevelum and at Langwarft in Oldorf. In the 1970s, it was recorded that 28 % of Rodenäs’s inhabitants spoke five languages.
