The Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park extends along Mölln and covers a 474-square-kilometre protected area with habitats for rare and endangered species. Mölln Municipal Forest covers 1,200 hectares and provides a habitat for numerous animal and plant species.

Culture

A walk around St Nicholas Church offers views of Mölln’s historic market-square ensemble. Mölln’s Gothic brick town hall was built in 1373, is Schleswig-Holstein’s second-oldest town hall and reopened as the Mölln Town Museum in 1993. The Mölln Town Museum features a permanent exhibition on the history of the town. The restored council chamber provides the setting for concerts, readings and other cultural programmes. St Nicholas Church is Mölln’s oldest church and an important cultural monument.

Activities

Walking and riding trails run through Mölln Municipal Forest; benches and shelters are available for breaks. At Stadtsee, visitors can rent pedal boats or electric boats for independent excursions. Various bathing areas at Mölln’s lakes offer opportunities for swimming and relaxing.

Uhlenkolk Wildlife Park offers opportunities to observe native animal species, walk through the park and learn about the local fauna. The spa gardens are listed as a park covering 40,000 square metres, with a Kneipp foot bath and a variety of leisure facilities. Boat trips are possible on Mölln’s lakes and the Elbe-Lübeck Canal.

Bicycles and e-bikes are available for visitors to hire in Mölln; advance booking is strongly recommended. The Mölln Town Walk is an easy walk along the town’s main sights; there are several steps leading to Kirchberg.
