Blieskastel: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Blieskastel is distinguished by the Gollenstein: The almost seven-metre-high sandstone monolith stands on a ridge near Blieskastel. It is described as one of Germany’s oldest cultural monuments and one of the largest menhirs in Central Europe. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Blieskastel can then continue searching for accommodation.

Culture

The historic centre is listed as a protected Baroque ensemble with 154 individual monuments. These include restored courtyards, winding lanes, a pedestrian zone, shops and cafés. The Heilig-Kreuz Chapel stands on the Han and was built in 1682/83. The pilgrimage monastery complex includes 1857 Stations of the Cross, which replace the destroyed Seven Footfalls.

The La Pendule Clock Museum presents 99 clocks in a collection covering 150 square metres and five rooms, with a particular focus on French pendulum clocks. As part of the Edible Biosphere City project, visitors may harvest produce from beds and hanging planters. The Biosphere Citizens’ Garden is open to visitors seasonally and regularly hosts public guided tours.

Hiking

The hiking options include themed trails through deciduous and coniferous forests as well as paths across fields and ridges offering long-distance views. The Bliessteig includes a 9.92-kilometre stage from Blieskastel to Kirkel.

In the Blieskastel district of Niederwürzbach, Würzbacher Weiher offers a short circular trail as well as other hiking and cycling routes, including the family cycling route Sieben-Weiher-Tour. The circular trail passes the preserved Annahof and the Rote Bau. The recreational area at Würzbacher Weiher also includes a motorhome parking area.
