Mannebach is a stop on the Boos–Ulmen section of the Vulkanweg trail. The route passes through the village, past the Chapel of St. Sebastian, built in 1772, and continues towards Kolverath and Hochkelberg.

Culture and History

Mannebach’s local heritage includes the Chapel of the Elevation of the Cross, built in 1772 and associated with the parish of Retterath. At the same time, a clearly recognisable historical linear village structure has been preserved. The settlement was expanded mainly through smaller newer areas on its eastern and western edges.

Roman settlement remains are recorded in the Klöppesch and Lange Bahn fields. These include masonry, roof tiles and pottery dating from the 3rd to 4th century.

Nature and Surroundings

Hochkelberg is located near Mannebach. The surrounding area also includes Löwenburg, Höchstberg, Wolfs-Berg and Saberg. The wider regional surroundings of Mannebach include Bürresheim Castle, the Gänsehalsturm tower and the ruins of Neu Blankenheim.
