Nature and Trails

Near Neidenbach, the marked St. Thomas nature trail runs for 2.5 kilometers through the Heilenbach Valley in the Zwischen Ueß und Kyll landscape conservation area. Also near Neidenbach, the St. Thomas nature trail leads from St. Thomas via St. Thomas Monastery to the Neidenbach waterfalls.

History and Architectural Heritage

Extensive traces of Roman settlements can be found along Neidenbach’s northern cadastral boundary. Until around 1800, Neidenbach was divided between a part belonging to the Electorate of Trier and a part belonging to the Duchy of Luxembourg. A boundary stone found west of Neidenbach along a Roman road bears the inscription “FINES PA GI CARUCUM”.

The parish church of St. Peter in Neidenbach is a plastered Baroque building dating from 1924–26. It preserves window surrounds and a choir dating from 1778. The west tower of St. Peter’s parish church, including its bell chamber, dates from the 16th or early 17th century.

The buildings at Densborner Straße 14 and 16 form a heritage zone consisting of two single-story houses with associated farm buildings dating from the first half of the 19th century. A simple wayside chapel made of rubble stone, dating from 1933, stands at the intersection of Röderweg and Kyllburger Straße. Kyllburger Straße is also home to a washing place, a water basin, and a bleaching meadow, which probably date from the 19th century.

The Neidenbach village shop offers fresh products from bakery and butcher counters as well as other everyday necessities. It serves as a refreshment stop for hikers and cyclists.
