Strickscheid: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture and History

Settlement remains and burial mounds provide evidence of prehistoric and Roman settlement in Strickscheid. Until 1788, the village ecclesiastically belonged to the old parish of Pronsfeld. In 1808, Strickscheid was assigned to the newly established independent parish of Lünebach.

The history of the railway is also connected with the surrounding area: until the 1960s, Strickscheid had a rail connection from Pronsfeld via Arzfeld to Neuerburg. In nearby Pronsfeld, the railway museum presents the history of the railway in Pronsfeld since 1886. The former railway station grounds in Pronsfeld are freely accessible.

Landscape

Strickscheid is located on an open high plateau. About one kilometre east of Strickscheid, the access route passes through a narrow valley.

Cycling and Trails

A railway viaduct with five arches was built in Strickscheid in 1907. The preserved viaduct is used as a footpath and cycle path. The Enz Cycle Route is an easy 46.6-kilometre cycling route from Pronsfeld to Holsthum. It follows the river through quiet valleys, idyllic villages and historic landscapes between the Islek highlands and the Prüm Valley.

In the Eifel, cycle paths on former railway lines generally have gradients of less than 2.5 percent and are asphalted almost throughout. The municipality invites visitors to explore Strickscheid and says that it personally welcomes visitors.
