Local Traditions

Kinderbeuern supports a local traditional orchard initiative focused on preserving traditional fruit trees and biodiversity. The associated Alftal traditional orchard culture is connected with fruit, Viez, naturally cloudy apple juice and fruit brandy.

Local History

The historic settlement pattern of Kinderbeuern is still visible, characterised by scattered settlement areas that gradually grew together in the late 19th century. The village was first mentioned in documents in 1296. The Catholic parish church is included in the list of Kinderbeuern’s sights.

At the beginning of the 17th century, the residents of the Kinderbeuern farmsteads built their own chapel because the route to the mother church in Kröv was long and arduous. An ordinance dated 6 July 1789 established a parish for Kinderbeuern and Hetzhof. The foundation stone of the present parish church was laid on 30 May 1869.

Architectural Heritage

In the district of Hetzhof, the historic farm that forms the basis of today’s community centre is shown on a map dating from around 1690. The historic Hetzhof included an integrated mill powered by the nearby Kammerbach stream. The farm’s barn and stable retain their original half-timbered construction. During restoration, the Hetzhof House was preserved in its original condition in accordance with the requirements of the heritage protection authority.

The restored community centre is named “Aale Boahof” and was inaugurated on 14 April 1989. The historic village fountain associated with the restored Hetzhof now stands in its old form at the nearby Brunnenplatz. Other historic structures in the surrounding area include the Alfbach Bridge, built in 1851, and the wayside cross erected on the L57 in 1748.
