History

Nature
The Erdekaut adventure landscape is a protected landscape and a post-mining area between Eisenberg and Hettenleidelheim on the site of former clay pits. It includes protected animal and plant species, three circular routes, viewpoints and information boards with explanations.
Erdekaut has viewpoints with tables and benches for resting and picnicking. Remains of mine railway tracks can be seen in the grass; the former Riegelstein mine now houses a mining museum.
The landscape also includes children's play facilities with slides, sandpits and rocking play equipment. Erdekaut is described as a place where visitors can observe frogs, dragonflies, trout, ducks and cranes.
