Dackenheim: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

History and Culture

Dackenheim was first recorded in 768 as “Dagatisheim”. The village developed from five monastic estates by 1160. Numerous richly decorated houses and gates bearing carved dates reflect Dackenheim’s economic prosperity in the 16th century.

Dackenheim’s Catholic church is a 12th-century building that was formerly associated with Höningen Abbey. The surviving Romanesque elements include a three-storey chancel tower and an eastern apse. Those interested in the art can obtain the key from the adjacent rectory. In addition, a late Celtic grave with a non-religious head relief dates from the 2nd to 1st century BC.

Wine and Villagescape

The Liebesbrunnen vineyard site is designated as Dackenheim’s most important vineyard site. Archaeologists found evidence of a Hallstatt-period settlement in this vineyard, dating from 1200 to 800 BC. Riesling and Silvaner grow in Dackenheim’s Liebesbrunnen vineyard. The Liebesbrunnen spring is still present in the vineyard.

Landscape and Golf

Golfgarten Deutsche Weinstraße is situated on the sunny edge of the Haardt. Rental clubs are available for public golf at the Dackenheim facility. The facility offers professional golf instructors for beginners.
