In Rott, the 5.4-kilometre Kleiner Wäller Klangpfad sound trail begins at the hiking car park. This circular route focuses on sound. It leads along meadow and forest paths towards Oberlahr and features playable sound installations such as a wooden cradle, a rainmaker, a wind chime and a standing harp.

The sound trail passes former production buildings of the Silberwiese ore mine. A free hiking car park for the trail is located on Walter Bartels Weg in Rott. The approaches to the route's stopping points are approximately 900 metres from Flammersfeld Town Hall and approximately 750 metres from the Eichen/Rott junction.

Townscape and history

Rott is described as a village with many half-timbered houses. Rott is also described as having a history of more than 800 years. Sütterlin, also known as German script, can still be seen on the building.

Nature

Rott is located within the Rhine-Westerwald Nature Park and is surrounded by forest. Near the forest pavilion is the Haus des Waldes, which serves as a forest museum and displays animals found in the local natural environment. Information boards provide information for visitors interested in nature. A visit is possible by prior telephone registration. The Haus des Waldes was created as the highlight of the Flammersfeld-Rott-Oberlahr nature trail.

Near the forest pavilion, the Mohr family's garden in Rott contains typical plants and old fruit varieties from traditional cottage gardens. Beate Mohr offers a herb seminar in Rott after prior contact.

Geographical location

The A3 motorway is approximately 11 kilometres from Rott. Regional Line 120 and bus route 126 serve nearby stops that can be used to access the sound trail; connections are available to Altenkirchen railway station.

Everyday amenities such as a bakery, a bank, a post office and a discount supermarket are available in Flammersfeld, two kilometres from Rott.
