History and Nature
Obererbach’s local highlights include the historic Marienthal tunnel portal, built around 1895, and an abandoned ore-mining tunnel on the access path to the WesterwaldSteig, which has been repurposed as a bat refuge. Obererbach railway station, dating from 1895, is the municipality’s only listed historic building. The station remains a stopping point; according to reports, the station building itself is privately owned and is being renovated according to the original plans.
Discoveries
The Obererbach Gnome Trail is a discovery trail running from the Willi-Eichelhard footbridge at the community centre to the railway crossing at the forester’s lodge. It features small figures and was created locally by residents together with children.
Hiking
Obererbach’s official local hiking trail is 7.5 kilometres long and marked with a yellow OE on a black background. The route includes a shelter with views over the valley. The forest and meadow tour also offers open views towards Altenkirchen and has a direct rail connection via the Westerwald-Sieg Railway (RB 90), which connects Siegen, Au/Sieg, Altenkirchen, Hachenburg and Limburg.
The 11th stage of the WesterwaldSteig leads via Marienthal and the Raiffeisen Tower to Obererbach railway station and is a moderately difficult, 9.4-kilometre long-distance hike. It offers views over the Bergisches Land, the Siebengebirge and the Altenkirchen region towards the Westerwald. The connecting trail from the Raiffeisen Tower to Obererbach railway station is approximately 1.4 kilometres long and marked with a green W on a yellow background. Hikers can park at Obererbach railway station, take the train to the starting point in Marienthal and walk back.

Obererbach has a wine tavern with a restaurant that is available by reservation. There is also a pond where fishing is possible.
