Culture and History

Wimbach has documented medieval origins: the village was first mentioned in a document issued by Count Gerhard of Are/Nürburg on 25 May 1216. The settlement is associated with a former noble residence.

The Schwedenkreuz stands in the municipality of Wimbach next to the Nürburgring Nordschleife; it dates from 1638. A section of the Nürburgring Nordschleife is also associated with Wimbach.
