Ennigerloh is located in the parkland of southeastern Münsterland and forms the geographical center of the Warendorf district.

History and Culture

St. James’ Church was first mentioned as a parish in 1193; its older section is a Romanesque hall church. The Alte Brennerei Schwake hosts cabaret, theater, music, poetry events, and exhibitions. An elevator provides barrier-free access for visitors with reduced mobility. The building also houses two cinemas and the Oelde-Ennigerloh adult education center.

Tradition and Craftsmanship

The Ennigerloh windmill was built in 1869 as a tower mill with walls made of local quarry stone and a rotating cap. It has been a listed monument since 1984. Its recurring program includes the Maypole and Mill Festival, German Mill Day, and Open Monument Day. The grounds also feature a bakehouse for traditional wood-fired baking.

Getting Around

The Warendorf district has around 900 kilometers of signposted cycle routes in a node-based system, consisting of interconnected small circular routes. A 34-kilometer section of the Münsterland Equestrian Route runs through Oelde and Ennigerloh to Beelen and includes five riding and rest stations.
