Nature

South of Saerbeck, the unstraightened, meandering Mühlenbach flows into the Ems. Saerbeck’s bathing lake offers swimming opportunities, a sandy beach and a large sunbathing lawn for relaxation. Additional public parking spaces are available for the bathing lake within walking distance.

The Nöttler Berg Wildlife Enclosure is located in a 25-hectare wooded landscape with walking trails and around 40 animal species. The offerings include animal feedings and close encounters with some of the animals.

Cycle Paths

Saerbeck is listed as a stopover or overnight destination on the Dortmund-Ems Canal Cycle Route and the EmsRadweg; the distances from the village to the two routes are given as 5 km and 2 km respectively. The Lapwing Route connects nature reserves in Saerbeck and Ladbergen and passes through Saerbeck’s wet meadow nature reserve.

In the Saerbeck Wetland section of the Lapwing Route, there is an observation tower from which wading birds and duck species can be observed. The route is integrated into the Münsterland cycle network and uses signposting with the NaTourismus logo. The Riesenbeck Carriage and Riding Route also reaches the outskirts of Saerbeck; an additional loop leads to the Saerbeck Bioenergy Park.

Culture

The Grain Distillery Museum in Saerbeck is the only museum of its kind in the Steinfurt district. By appointment, guided tours explain the history of the building and the traditional grain distilling process. The museum also offers a tasting of Münsterländer Doppelkorn.
