Culture and History
In the town centre, the Historical Walking Tour leads through Ladbergen. The route is approximately 1,000 metres long; nine information panels show the town’s urban development at noteworthy locations.
The Ladbergen Local History Museum is located on the edge of the Lönsheide nature reserve. It presents the development of the town from prehistory to the present day. The historic buildings include the Erpenbeck grain mill, which is listed as a heritage building and was completed in 1840 as an oil, boke and chicory mill. Visitors can experience a mill demonstration there; during the demonstration, the miller explains the technical details and the history of the Erpenbeck grain mill.
A guided tour of Ladbergen’s local history visits noteworthy sites in the town centre and covers local personalities, events and buildings. Another stop in the Peace Park at Ladbergen Town Hall commemorates the Peace of Münster and Osnabrück.
Nature and Cycling
In Ladbergen, the Curlew Route reaches the Hölter Feld nature reserve, which covers approximately 380 hectares. The 40-kilometre Curlew Route has been designated by the municipalities of Ladbergen and Saerbeck and is connected to the Münsterland cycling network.
The Peace Route is a 170-kilometre circular long-distance cycle route. Ladbergen is also located near the Ladbergen exit of the A1 motorway.
Hiking and Pilgrimage
In Ladbergen, the Way of St. James runs from Lönsweg along the Mühlenbach, past the Old Watermill and the Zur Post inn to the Protestant Church. There are several stamp points on the Way of St. James for pilgrims in Ladbergen. The Ladbergener Pättken has four geocaches.
