Culture
The Hachtor gate was built around 1300 from Rüthen green sandstone and is the last surviving one of Rüthen’s four town gates. The Witches’ Tower is the only completely preserved defensive tower in Rüthen’s fortifications; it houses a small exhibition with artefacts relating to the witch trials. The tower can be visited as part of a guided town tour.
Haus Buuck is described as probably Rüthen’s oldest residence. The building is a typical merchant’s house from the Hanseatic period, with a three-storey attic dating from 1609. Rüthen’s historic town hall was built in the Baroque style between 1726 and 1730. Its preserved interiors are used for cultural purposes and civil weddings.
Körtlinghausen Castle is rented out as a venue for celebrations and conferences. According to surviving accounts, construction began around 1714 based on plans by the architect Justus von Wehmer; an older castle, first mentioned in 1398, previously stood on this site.
Nature
The Rüthen water tower is 35 metres high and has a viewing platform that can be reached at a height of 29 metres. From there, views extend towards the Haarstrang ridge, the heights of the Brilon Forest and Arnsberg Forest Nature Park.
The Hohler Stein cultural cave in Rüthen-Kallenhardt is located in a nature reserve named after the Lörmecke stream. The disc golf course in Rüthen-Kallenhardt is promoted in Arnsberg Forest Nature Park as an outdoor activity for families and groups.

The adventure hiking trail starts at the car park by the Hachtor gate. Route I, marked in blue, is an easy section of the adventure hiking trail measuring approximately two kilometres.
The Möhnetal cycle path runs through Rüthen. Along the route, floodplain meadows, green forests and gentle hills shape the landscape.
