Founded in 1910, the Hüllhorst local history museum is housed in the former school and presents the everyday culture of Hüllhorst’s residents in the 19th century. The toy museum in the Mühlenkreis district showcases a very different collection. Visitors can see more than 500 dolls, over 100 dollhouses and almost 1,500 model cars. Theatre at Kahle Wart

The Kahle Wart open-air theatre is located in Oberbauerschaft, in the Wiehen Hills. Three original half-timbered houses provide the backdrop for plays performed in Low German and Standard German. The two languages are part of what makes the performances distinctive; the programme is seasonal. The Mühlenroute and LandArt

The Mühlenroute in the Minden-Lübbecke district passes through Hüllhorst. Across the district, it links more than 40 windmills, watermills and mills powered by horses or motors along a circular route of about 280 kilometres. The Minden-Lübbecke district is also home to 43 operational windmills, watermills and horse-powered mills. Hüllhorst is therefore a place where mills feature not only in individual buildings, but also in a regional route.

The LandArt-Route offers another way to explore the region. In the wider Minden-Lübbecke destination, it links more than 80 art and cultural venues along five sections. LandArt-Route 4 runs via Lübbecke and Preußisch Oldendorf to Hüllhorst on the southern side of the Wiehen Hills, passing stops with their own distinctive offerings. Unlike the Mühlenroute, it focuses on art and culture. The two routes have different thematic focuses, and neither requires you to have a particular type of activity in mind.
