Stadtlohn: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Haus Hakenfort is described as an outstanding example of early Neoclassical houses in the Münsterland region. The building houses the local tourist information office. At the same time, Haus Hakenfort is described as the oldest surviving town house in Stadtlohn after the destruction caused by the war. Culture

The city’s history also includes religious sites and traditions. The first written mention of the Hilgenberg Chapel dates back to 1525. Every year on 2 July, the procession to the Hilgenberg Chapel takes place for the Feast of the Visitation of Mary.

St. Otger is one of the four original parishes in the Diocese of Münster and was founded around 800 by Liudger, the first Bishop of Münster. The St. Lawrence Chapel at Haus Hengelborg was built in 1716/1717 as a hunting chapel.

The Kiepenkerl Museum displays selected works from a private collection and presents Stadtlohn’s Kiepenkerl Sunday tradition, which has existed for more than 40 years. Stadtlohn is also associated with a pottery tradition.

The WLE Railway Museum is dedicated to the Westphalian State Railway and is located in the former railway station building.

Cycling routes

The predominantly flat cycling routes around Stadtlohn run along the Berkel toward Vreden. They pass through fields and meadows and along small streams. The Berkel Route follows the Berkel through Stadtlohn toward Vreden and on to the Netherlands.

A hiking car park is located at Landgutritter in Stadtlohn-Büren, opposite a church and next to an animal enclosure and a playground.
