The August Gottschalk House Jewish Museum is located in the former community center of Esens’s Jewish community, built in 1899. The permanent exhibition covers Jewish life in East Frisia up to the dissolution of the Jewish communities in 1940. You can also visit the renovated mikveh: the ritual bath of the Jewish community in Esens has been preserved in its original form. Church, Tower and Views Across Esens

St. Magnus Church is a 57-meter-long, three-aisled hall church in the shape of a cross, with a choir and an eastern apse. Its interior, designed in the Neo-Gothic style, seats 1,500. The church tower houses the Tower Museum, which opened in 1982. A 1873 church clock mechanism and a possible view inside the Rohlfs church organ, dating from 1860, are part of the visit. If you climb the tower, you will reach the sound openings after 113 steps. From there, the view stretches across the rooftops of Esens to the coast.
