Kloster Zinna was founded in 1170 as a monastery for men of the Cistercian Order and is now officially part of the town of Jüterbog. The abbey church is described as a masterpiece of Cistercian architecture and the best-preserved granite basilica in northern Germany. You can combine this architectural history with other local themes: admission also includes the museum about the hand-weaving settlement in Kloster Zinna. A demonstration hand-weaving workshop shows visitors how the work was carried out at the time.
The demonstration distillery offers another perspective. Visitors can watch Zinnaer Klosterbruder being made there; a sample of the schnapps is included in the admission price. Kloster Zinna thus offers a range of experiences, from the abbey church and the history of hand-weaving to the production of a spirit named after the region. Active on the Flaeming-Skate
For an active outing, try the Flaeming-Skate circuit RK 3. The route is about eleven kilometers long and runs from Jüterbog via Neuheim and Grüna to Kloster Zinna, for skating or cycling. This makes an active outing a distinct option alongside guided town tours, churches and museums.
The wider travel destination of Teltow-Fläming also offers other points of interest beyond the town. The district has nearly 600 kilometers of tourist cycling routes. Another cultural highlight in Teltow-Fläming is the Baruther Glashütte settlement, a monument of European significance. It has a living glass museum with a working furnace.
