The Spree Cycle Route crosses the Spree-Neiße region for about 60 kilometres and runs mostly along paved river dykes. The Lower Lusatian Mining Tour offers a different thematic perspective: it passes active lignite open-cast mines and landscapes recultivated after mining. When planning an outing, you can therefore choose between a cycling route and a tour focused on the landscape in the context of mining.
On adventure tours, the route leads to the lignite seam in the active Welzow-Süd open-cast mine. Check the tour’s availability and the applicable safety rules before setting out.
