History in the Townscape and the Exhibition
Wusterwitz was first mentioned in a document as early as the 12th century. The brick church from the 13th century provides another historic landmark. The documentary mention and the church mark different periods: a written record from the 12th century on the one hand, and a building from the following century on the other.
On the upper floor of the restored former sexton’s house, the Wusterwitz Local History and Cultural Association (Heimat- und Kulturverein Wusterwitz e.V.) presents a permanent exhibition covering 130 m². It commemorates Wusterwitz puppeteer Wilhelm Götze and artistic cyclist Paul Z`dun. The exhibition therefore features two distinct subjects: puppetry and artistic cycling. Festivals and Events
Sports and choir events have a regular place in community life throughout the year. The beach festival and the trade association festival are also held annually. Another event venue is the former brickworks, “Alte Ziegelei Wusterwitz”, which hosts concerts, markets and arts and crafts events.
