History

Vogelsang was first documented in 1327. Between 1416 and 1426, Vogelsang an der Oder consisted of four farmsteads. Between 1426 and 1429, Vogelsang was bought back by Neuzelle Monastery. The Oder flooded near Vogelsang in 1709 and 1730.

In the immediate vicinity of Vogelsang, in Eisenhüttenstadt, are the ruins of the Vogelsang power plant. The building shell has been preserved; there are also two chimneys, each 100 meters high. The power plant was built toward the end of the Second World War, but never entered regular operation and was later dismantled as reparation.
