The development of different types of mills is also part of the town’s history: in 2010, the König family’s initiative led to the construction of a motor mill in Zechin, on the site where a post mill had previously stood, followed later by a gallery Dutch mill. This sequence of designs tells different chapters of mill history, without requiring a particular route through the site.
The municipality also offers an insight into basket-making: in the district of Buschdorf, master basket-maker Thea Müller exhibited woven goods from around the world. Her expert guided tours offered insights into more than 1,000 exhibits and the traditional craft typical of the Oderbruch. Visits are by telephone appointment.
