Culture

The ruins of Thanstein Castle preserve a round keep, sections of the former castle wall, and old cellar rooms from the former castle.

The 17-meter-high tower can be climbed via a wooden staircase; from there, it offers views across the Upper Palatinate.

The former Thannstein Castle once served as a forester’s lodge. The building, with its half-hipped roof, contains structural elements from the 17th and 18th centuries; the preserved gate wall served as the castle entrance.
