Wechterswinkel Monastery houses a district cultural centre for visual arts, music, literature and lifestyle. The ground-floor gallery exhibits contemporary art, with a focus on sculpture. In Mellrichstadt, the district gallery in the Old Hospital presents the Rhön-Grabfeld district’s collection: paintings and sculptures from the Baroque period to the present, all with a regional connection. The Documentation Centre Hainberg Barracks at Doku-Z Mellrichstadt explores a Cold War border garrison.

The Old Hospital in Mellrichstadt also has a museum café serving homemade cake, which is also served in the museum garden during the warmer months. As the café’s opening arrangements may change, check the latest information before setting off.
