The Teufelsküche in the Günz Valley

About two kilometres beyond Ronsberg, in the valley of the eastern Günz, lies the Teufelsküche geotope. Large blocks of consolidated glacial gravel are piled haphazardly on top of one another. The formation is designated a natural monument. Visitors exploring it should stay on the paths—a simple guideline that also respects the protected character of the site.

A visit combines observing the landscape with a tangible glimpse into geological history: the scene is shaped not by a smoothly sculpted rock face, but by the striking jumble of blocks. Chapel and castle traces in Ronsberg

At Friedhofweg 2, on the castle hill beside the cemetery wall, stands an 18th-century Catholic chapel. This small rectangular building with a gabled roof is a modest architectural detail and a starting point for a walk exploring the village’s history.

The medieval heritage also includes the castle ruins of Ronsberg Castle. Finds from the Middle Ages and the early modern period have been uncovered in the area of the former castle chapel and the modern-era cemetery. There are also 32 local hiking routes showcasing special natural and local attractions. Another cultural highlight in the Ostallgäu is its UNESCO World Heritage site: since 12 July 2025, Neuschwanstein Castle has been included alongside Linderhof Palace, the King’s House on Schachen and Herrenchiemsee Palace. Visits to Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau are possible only as part of a guided tour.
