Monastery complex: history and culture
The former Fürstenfeld monastery complex is considered one of the town’s attractions. The magnificent Baroque monastery church is its centrepiece. Cistercians founded Fürstenfeld Monastery in 1263 on the “Prince’s Field”. Today, the extensively restored complex is a centre for art and culture: it is home to the Fürstenfeld Event Forum, the municipal museum, the Neue Bühne Bruck theatre and the Kulturwerkstatt Haus 10 and Kunsthaus galleries.
During the day, the monastery church can generally be opened as far as the grille; from the vestibule, you have a good view of the interior. For tour groups, the church can also be opened outside its usual hours, and guided tours can be booked. This allows visits to be tailored to different groups. The Fürstenfeldbruck Museum is now located in the monastery complex’s old brewery. Anyone interested in the history of the site can combine a museum visit with a look at the ensemble of the former monastery.
AmperOase: water, sauna and ice
AmperOase is set in a park with mature trees beside the Amper, close to Fürstenfeldbruck town centre.
