Local history on the street, at the bridge and in the church
The Stolperstein for Kurt Schroeter is located a few metres from Gröbenzell's north station exit, on Bahnhofstraße. Another historical trace is the bridge in Gröbenzell, incorrectly known locally as the “Russian Bridge”: French prisoners of war built it in 1915/1916. Its Art Nouveau design was created by a French officer and architect who was himself a prisoner of war. This story links the bridge to the period in which it was built, while its traditional local name does not correctly identify its builders.
The church of St. Johann Baptist also offers a distinctive artistic feature: its Stations of the Cross comprise 14 stations made of bronze and aluminium. The restored Old School in the town centre is currently a restaurant. As this describes its current use, it is advisable to check again before visiting.
Bürgerpark, water play and cycle path
Works by Gröbenzell sculptor Hannes L. Götz can be seen year-round in the Bürgerpark. You can also explore the park on a circuit of the Trimm.Dich.Pfad, which is about 1.9 kilometres long. A 15,400 m² playground is located by the Ascherbach, where there are water-play features. The facilities may change over time. For a longer bike ride, you could also consider the Räuber-Kneißl cycle path: it opened in spring 2021, is divided into four stages and runs for 110 kilometres through the municipalities of WestAllianz München, including Gröbenzell. The approximately 1.9-kilometre circuit in the Bürgerpark and the 110-kilometre cycle path are on very different scales. This lets you choose between a short local circuit and a multi-stage cycling route when planning your trip.

The Rudolf Steiner School concert hall is at Spechtweg 1 in Gröbenzell and has 350 seats. If you plan to attend an event, check the current programme and event conditions before travelling. Another local feature is the Old School in the town centre, which is currently a restaurant; here, too, it is a good idea to check its current use in advance.
The connection to Munich may also be important when choosing your base: from Gröbenzell, it takes about 25 minutes to reach Munich's Marienplatz by S-Bahn.
