History

Roggenstein, a district of Emmering, contains the Roggenstein castle site and St. George's Chapel, whose frescoes date from around 1400.

Emmering was first documented in a land register of Benediktbeuern Abbey from the 11th century. The name Emeheringen is associated with the period between 740 and 770; the municipality was formed in 1818 together with Roggenstein and Wagelsried.
