Churches and Alpine Pastures World
The Catholic parish church of St. Martin in Unterwössen was built between 1780 and 1783 and extended from 1961 to 1963. The original construction and later extension therefore belong to different periods in its history. Achental Tourism regularly offers tours of churches and chapels in Unterwössen. At the Altes Bad, the Alpine Pastures World offers an impression of life on an alpine pasture and its relationship with nature. Interactive stations invite visitors to explore the subject, while information panels also cover the biodiversity of the alpine pasture ecosystem. A virtual hay-sled ride adds another interactive experience to the exhibition. Admission to the Alpine Pastures World exhibition is free during Tourist Information opening hours. Wössner See and Hochgern
You can walk around Wössner See all year round. The outdoor pool at Wössner See has a sunbathing lawn, a water slide and a children's play area. For trips with children, the slide and play area are useful features to keep in mind; the sunbathing lawn is also part of the pool's facilities. Fishing permits are also issued at Wössner See. Walking, swimming at the outdoor pool and fishing offer different ways to spend time by the water.
Hochgern is another clear destination for active days. Hiking routes from Unterwössen lead to places including this 1,744-metre-high mountain. Close to the destination, Hochgern can be climbed on foot or by mountain bike. If you would like to focus your trip on mountain activities, both hiking routes from the village and the option of climbing the mountain by mountain bike are available.
Cycle Path and Gliding
The Achental Cycle Path follows the Tiroler Ache for a short stretch before turning towards the centre of Unterwössen. These are two useful points of reference for a cycling trip: the section along the river and the continuation into the village. The German Alpine Gliding School Unterwössen offers another way to experience outdoor activity, with a taster day for anyone interested. Along with the hiking routes and outdoor pool, this adds more active options to the cultural and nature-based experiences.
