Winklmoos-Alm is a ski and hiking area as well as a district of Reit im Winkl. For cross-country skiing enthusiasts, Nordic Park Reit im Winkl is an area for play, training and practice; the Bärenloipe there is a children’s trail. This makes it easy to choose between different activities: skiing and hiking at Winklmoos-Alm or cross-country skiing at Nordic Park.

For a more physically demanding activity, there is the Hausbachfall via ferrata on the right-hand side of the gorge: it is graded C/D and leads over ladders, footholds and a rope bridge. Conditions can vary with the water level, so take this into account when planning.

The Three Lakes Area

The Three Lakes Area, with Weitsee, Mittersee and Lödensee, stretches between Reit im Winkl and Ruhpolding. Swimming is permitted at designated bathing areas at Weitsee; seasonal conditions should be taken into account. Local History and Living Culture

The local history museum “Hausenhäusl” offers insights into the life of a day labourer in Reit im Winkl just over 100 years ago. The ski museum shows the importance of the village and Winklmoos-Alm to the sport of skiing. Both museums can only be visited as part of the guided museum walk; advance registration is required. The cultural programme therefore brings together two different themes: everyday life in the past and the history of skiing.
