Limes history in the municipality

At the eastern edge of Kleinlellenfeld, watchtower 13/41 and part of the Limes wall were reconstructed to knee height in 2007. The reconstruction is on the Limes hiking and cycling trail; a Limes information stele designed by Römerpark Ruffenhofen stands there. The watchtower, section of wall and stele each offer a different perspective: the reconstruction shows the structural features, while the information board provides information about the Limes.

Those more interested in everyday history and historical measurements can find more than 4,000 exhibits at the “wiegen & messen” museum in Königshofen. These include historical scales, their corresponding weights, cubits, folding rulers and vessels for measuring grain. Its focus is quite different from that of the literary trail: here, measuring instruments and units take centre stage, while the trail explores how authors have engaged with Franconia.
