Local History at the Museum

The Abstatt Local History Museum is located in the attic of the town hall. Its collection includes objects and documents relating to the history of Abstatt and its districts of Happenbach, Vohenlohe and Burg Wildeck. It spans a period from Neolithic finds to objects from the late 20th century. Early finds and much more recent items are thus displayed side by side, without the collection being limited to a single era.

Another historical point of interest is the town hall’s wedding room. There you can view preserved oil paintings on wooden panels dating from around 1760. The room also serves as a lecture hall for the museum. If you would like to see the panels in person, it is best to check visiting arrangements in advance.

Art in the Civic Park and Throughout the Municipality

The Rälling cats offer a different focus from the historical collection. The municipality describes them as part of the Civic Park’s permanent artwork. At the same time, each decorated cat has been placed either in Abstatt Civic Park or elsewhere in the municipality of Abstatt. The figures are therefore not all located in one place. Concerts, Exhibitions and Stage Performances

The Cultural Working Group organises a series of cultural events and concerts in Abstatt, including concerts and exhibitions. Theatre and cabaret are also on the programme. Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park encompasses 25 municipalities across four districts, including Heilbronn district. This takes you from a single lake to a nature park spanning several districts.

For cultural discoveries across the wider region, there are further contrasts: Weibertreu Castle Ruins are a viewpoint and a small open-air museum at the entrance to the Weinsberg Valley. The Wine and Rose Circular Trail offers a particularly scenic ascent to the ruins. Performances at the Burg Stettenfels Castle Festival are always held outdoors; check the dates separately.
