The Schäferhauser See local recreation area is a popular destination for walkers, joggers, cyclists, families and anyone seeking relaxation. Hüttensee is another distinctive body of water: it covers 2.5 hectares and lies beside the Neckar, not far from where the Lauter flows into it. The Wendlingen am Neckar landscape conservation area extends almost all the way around the town. Its characteristic orchards provide a habitat for many plants and animals.

A forest discovery trail has been open in the “Waldäcker” area since June 2024. Longer routes also help you find your way around: two sections of the Way of St. James pass through the hamlet of Bodelshofen. In Bodelshofen, the Gothic St. James’s Church has 15th-century frescoes and three stained-glass windows by Hans Gottfried von Stockhausen. The Wendlingen am Neckar City Museum displays archaeological finds and explanations covering various periods, from the Stone Age through the Bronze and Iron Ages to the Romans and Alamanni. An audiovisual presentation with a touchscreen provides information about archaeological sites and finds. A more recent part of the cultural history is the villa at Weberstraße 2: the City of Wendlingen am Neckar acquired it in 1979 and converted it into a gallery by 1982. Another annual event is the Vinzenzifest of the Egerländer, which they have held every summer in Wendlingen am Neckar since 1952.
