Since 1987, the Deckenpfronn Village Museum has been housed in the attic floors of the former tithe barn, which was converted into a community centre. The listed tithe barn was built in 1807 and has a free-standing roof structure. Architectural history and the museum come together in this building. Since 2002, the Deckenpfronn Fasnet carnival celebrations have been organised by the local fools’ guild.

The “Begegnung in der Zehntscheuer” cultural series is also held there: the 150 m² granary hall hosts six to eight cabaret evenings each year. Check the current programme before your trip. The Heiß-Kalt Museum offers a different way to explore a museum. Many machines and devices can be set in motion there, and children’s puppets spin in circles. Digital displays and listening stations complement the exhibition.

Walking Trails, Hiking and Cycling

The Historic Trail begins at the “Gateway to the Old Village”, right next to the town hall, and leads to 17 sites in the old village. Information boards accompany the route and divide the village’s history into individual stops. There is also a starting point for hiking routes in front of the Protestant community centre, with an information board and map. Several circular cycling routes run within the municipal area of Deckenpfronn.

One hike passes the Egelsee nature reserve and follows the glider airfield to the edge of the forest. It also passes the Hohlwiel Celtic burial mound, which lies in a meadow. The Heiliges Kreuz memorial cross is a place of remembrance and a viewpoint; it can be reached in just a few minutes from the car park at Egelsee.
